Explore “Transition Times: Re-Membering Anticarceral Resistance in the Tenderloin,” an exhibition co-curated by Chandra Laborde and Stathis G. Yeros from the TurkxTaylor Initiative. This exhibition contextualizes the 1966 Compton’s Cafeteria riot, presenting a curated selection from historian Susan Stryker’s archival collection. The opening reception will be followed by a public meeting of the coalition advocating for the decarceration of the site of the historic, queer, grassroots uprising against police brutality. Manifest Differently,” Clarion Alley Mural Project’s largest exhibition in its 32-year history, features 38 California visual artists and poets exploring the history and legacies of Manifest Destiny. The multidisciplinary exhibition, running from Feb. 1st to Mar. 16th, at Minnesota Street Project, delves into issues such as inaccurate perceptions of indigenous peoples, the impact of government decisions on various communities, ecological crises, reparations for slavery, and the potential for compassion and education to drive positive change in global communities.
